Team India might be missing one of their key players in Chennai due to an injury sustained during training.
The Indian team is dealing with a major injury issue ahead of the second T20I in the five-match series against England. Before the match in Chennai, opener Abhishek Sharma twisted his ankle during warm-up drills, casting doubt on his availability for this important game.
Abhishek Sharma's outstanding performance in the first T20I, where he scored 79 runs off just 34 balls, played a crucial role in India's win over England. However, his ankle injury has raised concerns about whether he can participate in the next match.
Despite receiving treatment from the team physiotherapist, Abhishek appeared to be in discomfort and was unable to bat during practice at MAC B Stadium. His participation in the match is uncertain, as he was seen limping during training.
If Abhishek is unable to play, the Indian team will have to decide who will partner Sanju Samson at the top of the order, as they do not have a third opener in the squad. Possible replacements could be Tilak Varma or Dhruv Jurel to step in for the injured Punjab opener.
On another note, Mohammad Shami, who missed the previous T20I, showed encouraging signs in the nets, bowling with a shorter run-up and wearing a knee brace under the supervision of bowling coach Morne Morkel. Shami's fitness has been confirmed, and his absence in the Kolkata T20I was due to team selection choices rather than any injury issues.
As the Indian team gears up for the second T20I against England, the situation regarding Abhishek Sharma's injury and Mohammad Shami's return will be crucial to watch as the match approaches.
