India Vs England (Ind Vs Eng), 5th T20I Match Highlights: Stay updated with the highlights of the fifth T20I match between India and England, taking place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
After clinching a series victory in Pune, India is preparing to take on England in the fifth and final T20I at the renowned Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While this match is seen as a dead rubber due to India's earlier wins in Kolkata, Chennai, and Pune, it still carries importance for both sides.
India's strong showing in the series might prompt some adjustments to the playing XI, with Arshdeep Singh potentially making way for the seasoned Mohammed Shami. The Wankhede Stadium is a place of fond memories for Shami, who had an outstanding performance of 7/57 against New Zealand in the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal.
Moreover, all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, brought into the squad as a replacement during the series, is expected to feature in the final T20I. Meanwhile, England has yet to reveal their playing XI, adding an intriguing twist to the upcoming match.
As both teams prepare for the final clash at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, cricket fans can look forward to an exciting and competitive encounter between these two strong teams.
Follow highlights from IND vs ENG 5th T20I here:
Abhishek Sharma seizes the opportunity with the ball and takes a wicket on his very first delivery. What a day for the young player! But he doesn't stop there. He induces a mishit from Overton, and SKY makes a spectacular catch.
Mohammed Shami opens the bowling for England's chase. Salt is on strike and he smashes the ball through covers for a boundary. Shami bowls a full delivery and Salt drives it straight down the ground for another four. Salt is not holding back as he goes for a big shot and sends the ball sailing over the boundary for a six.
Abhishek smashes Rashid straight into the sightscreen, setting a new record for the highest T20I score by an Indian. He decides to go for it again, hitting the ball even higher and farther. SIX MORE!! WICKET! Abhishek miscues a big hit and is caught in the deep.
Wood bowled a back-of-a-length delivery, and Hardik connected with it perfectly, sending the ball sailing over the boundary for a six! Then, Wood bowled a fuller delivery, and Hardik flicked it aggressively. Unfortunately, the ball went straight to the fielder at deep fine leg.
Abhishek nudges one for a single against Carse and reaches his hundred, making it the second-fastest by an Indian in T20Is. However, India loses Suryakumar Yadav right after. He gets caught out with a leading edge, and Salt takes a great high catch.
Brydon Carse bowls his first over of the day, opting for a slower ball. However, Abhishek reads it well and smashes it over deep extra cover for a six. Carse then delivers a short ball, causing Tilak to edge it to the keeper.
Abhishek is on fire! He greets Overton by effortlessly lofting him over long off for a massive six. And he does it again! That brings his score up to fifty in just 17 balls - the second-fastest by an Indian in T20Is. Abhishek is showing no signs of slowing down!
Wood delivers another short ball, which Abhishek effortlessly pulls away for a boundary. Wood then decides to pitch it full, only for Abhishek to elegantly drive it past mid off for another four. Wood attempts to angle the ball away, but Abhishek shows no mercy as he lofts it over the cover fence for a massive six.
England (Playing XI): Philip Salt(w), Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler(c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jamie Overton, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
India (Playing XI): Sanju Samson(w), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy
Jos Buttler: We played some good cricket in patches. We should have executed it better though. Need to grab the special moments in the game. There's a good vibe in the team, it's a good venue and it's a great crowd. It's a good wicket, Mark Wood comes back in.
Suryakumar Yadav: We wanted to bat first, looks a good wicket. I am hoping there won't be much dew. It's going to be a full-packed stadium tonight. We want the boys taking that responsibility, that's what we demand and that's what they are doing. You will fail sometimes, especially when you play that high risk, high reward game. Shami comes back in for Arshdeep Singh.
Mohammed Shami has participated in one match during this series, and there’s a chance the Indian management might want him to feature in another match before the ODI games start. The most probable outcome would be to leave out Arshdeep Singh again, but India could also consider bringing in an extra seamer based on the playing conditions at the Wankhede Stadium. It will be interesting to see which spinner might be left out in that case.
"Shami has been bowling really well. You know, catching to him at warm-ups, (the ball) is really hitting the glove hard. So, (we're) very happy with how he's coming along. You know, he's probably going to get an opportunity in the next game. We'll see how things go. But, yeah, (we're) excited to have him back in the group," Morkel said.
It seems likely that Mohammed Shami will get a chance, along with players like Ramandeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and Dhruv Jurel. Sanju Samson will also be under scrutiny, especially after his recent scores of 1, 3, 5, and 26.
India: Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube/Ramandeep Singh/Dhruv Jurel, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh/Harshit Rana
England: Phil Salt (WK), Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler (C), Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood
