IND vs ENG Highlights, 2nd Test Match Day 3: The Ben Stokes-led England suffered early blows by Indian bowlers on Day 2 of the Edgbaston Test. Will it recover from the current situation, or will Indian bowlers continue their dominance?
India vs England Edgbaston Test: After a magnificent first innings of Team India concluded at 587, courtesy of a double hundred by skipper Shubman Gill, England came out to bat on Day 2. However, the Ben Stokes-led side suffered early blows and lost three top-order batters, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope. For India, Akash Deep took two of these three wickets, whereas Mohammed Siraj took one. Currently, England are trailing behind by 510 runs, with Joe Root and Harry Brook out in the middle. Will the home side be able to recover from the situation on Day 3 and try to reduce the run difference with India, or will Indian bowlers continue to dominate? Stay tuned to this space for all the live and latest updates from the Edgbaston Test between India and England.
Karun Nair and KL Rahul helped India avoid issues before the end of the day. India made a strong comeback in the last session. Siraj and Akash took advantage of the second new ball, taking the last five wickets for just 22 runs. Siraj finished with six wickets, taking 6 for 70.
Jaiswal gets out leg before wicket to Josh Tongue after missing the delivery. There is controversy as Jaiswal fails to meet the 15-second timer, which Stokes notices. Despite this, the umpires allow the DRS request, leading to England benefiting as the decision remains unchanged and India loses a review.
Carse gets a slight edge off Jaiswal’s bat, and the ball goes low for a boundary between third slip and gully. Jaiswal has now scored 2,000 runs in Tests. He hits another FOUR, driving the ball through mid on. Jaiswal hits a third FOUR in the same over with a pull over midwicket. The over ends with two singles.
Jaiswal hits another four by cutting a wide ball from Carse between backward point and cover. It was in the air but went between the two fielders. Rahul also hits a four off Woakes by playing a hard length delivery through point.
Siraj gets a wicket with a review showing three reds, achieving a five-wicket haul. The second new ball helps India. Shoaib Bashir is the last batsman and is hit on the helmet by a bouncer. He gets out for a duck, clean bowled after shouldering arms.
Siraj has struggled with control while bowling with the second new ball. There was an LBW appeal against Carse, and India decided to review the not out decision. The review showed three reds, and Carse has been given out for a four-ball duck.
England had a great session, not losing any wickets and reducing their deficit by 106 runs. Harry Brook and Jamie Smith showed both aggression and patience. England has now avoided the follow-on and is 232 runs away from tying the match.
