Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians WPL 2025 Final: The DC team led by Meg Lanning is trying to win their first title after losing in the final last year. On the other hand, the MI team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur is hoping to win their second consecutive trophy.
The stage is set for an epic finale as defending champions Mumbai Indians go head-to-head with Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final. Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals are determined to break their title drought, while Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians are eyeing their second championship victory.
Delhi Capitals hold a psychological advantage heading into the final, having defeated MI twice this season. A third consecutive victory over the defending champions would be the ideal way for Delhi to clinch their first-ever WPL title. However, Mumbai Indians have shown remarkable resilience, overcoming a demanding schedule to secure a spot in the final with a convincing 47-run win over Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator.
With both teams showcasing top-tier talent, fans can anticipate a thrilling showdown as Delhi and Mumbai vie for WPL supremacy. Will Mumbai continue their reign as champions, or will Delhi script a new chapter in WPL history? Stay tuned for the latest updates on this exciting matchup.
In the final over, Sciver-Brunt tricks Charani with a smile and delivers a dot ball. Mumbai Indians need 11 runs off two balls, then 10 off the last ball. They win the WPL 2025 title by beating Delhi Capitals by eight runs. Harmanpreet Kaur celebrates with a prayer.
MIW 149/7 (20)
DCW 141/9 (20)
Matthews bowls her second over. Jonassen hits a four through point off a misfield by Amanjot Kaur. Saika Ishaque misreads a spinning ball and concedes another four to the third man. Jemimah hits a short ball for a boundary over the short fine leg fielder.
Ismail opened the bowling for Mumbai Indians, while Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma opened for Delhi Capitals. Lanning got lucky with a boundary off an edge while trying to drive through covers. Shafali defended against Ismail's delivery. The first over resulted in just six runs.
In the final over, Shikha bowled well with a dot ball but then gave up a boundary to Sanskriti. After some smart running between the wickets, Amanjot hit another four. The fielder managed to stop the ball from going to the boundary but couldn't prevent it from touching the cushions. DC needs 150 to win.
Charani continues to bowl as Harmanpreet punches the ball towards deep cover for a quick run. The young Kamalini is now on strike. She cleverly scores a single past the bowler to open her account. The slow fielding by the opposition allows for a second run to be taken, with Kamalini safely returning to the bowler's end. Another single is scored, putting Kamalini back on strike.
Charani returns and bowls a drift down leg which NSB pulls to deep square leg for a boundary. Harmanpreet then takes a single, followed by a wide that goes to the boundary. The team reaches 100 runs. NSB gets out in an unusual way with a great catch by Minnu at square leg. Charani picks up a crucial wicket.
Harmanpreet hits back-to-back fours to reach her half-century against Minnu Mani's bowling, finding gaps between deep mid-wicket and deep square leg, then between deep mid-wicket and long on. The over ends with a couple of singles and a dot.
Jess Jonassen bowled the ball, Harmanpreet hit it towards deep backward square leg for a run. NSB then hit a ball towards long on for another run. NSB then hit towards deep mid wicket for two more singles. In total, six runs were scored.

Lanning: Going to have a bowl tonight. Conditions are going to remain the same, and it's worked for us throughout the tournament. We've had some time off to refresh and we're excited about tonight. It's an opportunity for us. Need to play well and hopefully it's our best performance. One change for us.
Harmanpreet: Even we were looking to bowl. But I think anything is good for us. If we look at the stats of the last four games, team batting first has won. Staying balanced and staying in the moment has worked for us. They've played really good cricket in this tournament. The last week has gone well for us. We have a lot of great memories from the first season.
Nat Sciver-Brunt is close to making history in the WPL. She is just three runs away from reaching 1,000 career WPL runs, which would make her the first batter to achieve this milestone. Additionally, she only needs seven more runs to become the first player to score 500 runs in a single WPL season. All eyes will be on her in the upcoming grand finale as she aims to etch her name in the record books.
Delhi Capitals' Shafali Verma can change the game with her aggressive power hitting, while Mumbai Indians rely on all-rounders Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt to perform in crucial moments. If Shafali shines, DC could win their first WPL title, but if Harmanpreet and Nat deliver, MI will be on track for victory.
