The surprising figure in question? Radhika Merchant, daughter-in-law of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. While the Ambanis are no strangers to limelight, it was this Radhika who hit the headlines by ranking eight in Google's search list. Her wedding to Anant Ambani became the talk of the town after a joyous ‘Haldi’ ceremony on July 8, followed by the grand wedding on July 12. The vibrant pre-wedding celebrations went viral, with glimpses of Bollywood stars like Orry, Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Salman Khan enjoying themselves at the family’s extravagant Mumbai home, Antilia. The sheer scale of the events, steeped in luxury, ensured that the Ambani wedding stayed at the forefront of public conversation for months.

But the Indian wrestler that topped the search rankings was Vinesh Phogat. Her trailblazing performance at the Paris Olympics was such that she became the first Indian female wrestler to reach the final, gaining much admiration across the world. She went on to win her semifinal by a decisive score of 5-0, but the Olympics journey for her came to an end in controversy when she was disqualified for weighing 100 grams more in her weight category.

Right behind her in the rankings, at number two, was Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar. His prominence grew partly due to the political shifts during the year, making him one of the most searched public figures in India. Following closely in third was Chirag Paswan, the son of the late Ram Vilas Paswan and former actor. Chirag's popularity in the search trends was attributed to his winning in the 2024 elections and the buzz over his campaign photos along with actress Kangana Ranaut.
