It offers a wide range of Indian ethnic apparel, including sarees, kurtas, pashmina stoles, dupattas, and lehengas
In a significant move, the Tata Group has ventured into the ethnic wear market with the launch of its new brand, Taneira. Operated by Titan, a Tata subsidiary known for brands like Tanishq, the move marks Tata’s entry into the women’s ethnic wear segment.
Taneira offers a wide range of Indian ethnic apparel, including sarees, kurtas, pashmina stoles, dupattas, and lehengas. CEO Ambuj Narayan emphasised that sarees will remain the brand's primary focus, providing women with fresh, high-quality ethnic options at reasonable prices.
The brand, holding a 2% market share, aims to capture 10% of the market within three years. This goal will be achieved by expanding its collection and increasing its retail footprint. Taneira plans to open 15-20 new stores annually, targeting 85 outlets by the end of FY 2024-25 and 127 by FY 2026-27. The company has set a revenue target of Rs 1,000 crore annually, according to reports.
This expansion follows a major transition within the Tata Group after the passing of its Chairman Emeritus, Ratan Tata, on October 9 at age 86. Noel Tata, Ratan Tata’s half-brother, was subsequently appointed chairman of Tata Trusts, the majority stakeholder in Tata Sons.
Founded in 1868 by Jamsetji Tata, the Tata Group has grown into a global powerhouse, operating in over 100 countries.
