In 1978, he came to Mumbai in search of a job. In Mumbai, he began working at Intermodal Transport and Trading Systems Private Limited and later he worked at Forbes Gokak.

At the age of 29, Shashi Kiran Shetty founded a company called Trans India Freight Services Private Limited. In 1994, he established Allcargo Logistics Limited. Today, Allcargo Group has over 4000+ employees in India and offices in 180 countries. Its services reach out to 530 destinations with more than 2,400 direct trade lanes. The group boasts of a robust multimodal capacity in India which reaches out to over 19,800 pin codes.

LCL stands for 'Less than Container Load,' meaning when the cargo is insufficient to fill an entire container and the LCL consolidator combines the LCL cargo from various shippers and transport it to the chosen destination. Revenue of Shetty's company is presently valued at around Rs. 13,000 crore.
