Stree 2 trailer: Shraddha Kapoor returns to save Rajkummar, Chanderi from 'Sarkata', fans call it 'bawaal blockbuster'

Shraddha Kapoor returns as a mysterious girl aka Stree, to protect Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and the males of Chanderi from a demon. This time Stree has a bigger threat to fight with. The trailer Stree 2 was launched in Mumbai on Thursday, and It was attended by the cast and crew of the film. 

Stree 2 is the fifth instalment in Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy franchise, and it promises to be funnier and scarier than the prequel. In the instalment, the men of Chanderi are now haunted by Sarkata, the evil spirit who once ditched the OG Stree (Flora Saini). Vicky and his gang, including Bittu (Aparshakti Khurrana), Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi). The trailer reveals some hilarious dialogues and even gives a glimpse of a team-up between the two Strees- Shraddha and Flora.

As soon as the trailer was dropped online, several moviegoers called it an 'improvement' from the prequel. A netizen wrote, "Forget abt everything, Rajkummar Rao ka aisa roop theatre faadke rakhdega." Another netizen wrote, "Finally After 6 YearsStreet Is Back!" One of the netizens wrote, "Loved this trailer. A perfect blend of Horror and Comedy... So excited for the movie." One of the netizens wrote, "Bawal blockbuster." 

Stree 2 will be the second film from Dinesh Vijan's horror universe released this year after sleeper hit Munjya. Abhay Verma, Sharvari-starrer was released in cinemas on June 7, and it went on to become a sleeper hit. Made in a reported budget of Rs 30 crores, the film went on to gross Rs 100 domestically. Stree 2 will be released in the cinemas on August 15. Earlier the film was clashing with Singham Again and Pushpa 2: The Rule. However, Singham Again got pushed to Diwali, and there are reports that Pushpa 2 might also shift. This means Stree 2 will now clash with Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham, Sharvari's Vedaa.
