Shahid Kapoor recalls giving 250 auditions, living in rented home, had no money to buy clothes: 'I felt victimised'

Shahid Kapoor opened up about his struggles, and how people around him made him feel 'victimised'. The Haider actor made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with Ishq Vishk. Despite hailing from a film family, being a son of Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azam, Shahid had to struggle door-to-door to prove his worth in Bollywood. 

The actor will soon be seen in the action thriller Deva, and recently discussed his life and career extensively in the Raj Shamnani Podcast. In the conversation, Shahid recalled giving multiple auditions and not even having enough money to buy local clothes. He said, "My father is a character actor, and my mom has been a Kathak dancer since she was 15 years old. I have lived in rented houses. I have given many auditions so I don’t have that sense of privilege." Shahid further added that how the definition of struggle varies in comparison with other actors, "Some people struggle in a BMW, they start their journey by working with the top two three directors in the country. I came after giving 250 auditions.” 

The Kaminey actor revealed that people praise him for his fashion sense, but he recalled when he didn't have money to buy clothes. He said, "Today, people say that Shahid’s fashion sense is so good, and sometimes, I laugh at things like this, because I remember at one point, I didn’t have enough money to buy clothes in Lokhandwala market." Shahid even revealed that he has gone through a phase of feeling victimised."I went through a very long phase of feeling victimised by my circumstances," The Kabir Singh actor said.
