Junaid Khan, Khushi Kapoor's Loveyapa is the remake of THIS Tamil film that was made in Rs 5 crore, grossed Rs 100 crore

From the 2024 Malayalam survival drama Manjummel Boys to the 2022 Kannada action drama Kantara, there have been many small budget regional films that have created records at the box office. Another addition to the list is the 2022 Tamil romantic comedy Love Today, which is among the most profitable films ever made in India.

Love Today was the second directorial of Pradeep Ranganathan, who also made his debut as the leading actor in the film. He was paired oppsoite Ivana. The story revolved around the chaos in their lives after they swap their phones for 24 hours a day before their marriage. The film's concept, humour, direction, and performances were loved by the audiences.

Made in just Rs 5 crore, Love Today went on to break many box office records. It earned Rs 67 crore net in India and grossed Rs 101 crore worldwide, and became one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2022. Raveena Ravi, Yogi Babu, Sathish, Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Akshaya Udayakumar were also seen in pivotal roles.

The Pradeep Ranganathan film has now been remade in Hindi as Loveyapa. Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan and Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor will be seen in the leading roles. Directed by Advait Chandan, the romantic comedy marks the theatrical debut of Junaid and Khushi. Their debut films Maharaj and The Archies premiered on Netflix in 2024 and 2023, respectively.

Loveyapa is slated to release on February 7. AGS Entertainment, who bankrolled Love Today, are also the producers of the upcoming film, along with Phantom Studios. Grusha Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, Kiku Sharda, Devishi Mandan, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Nikhil Mehta, and Jason Tham also feature in supporting roles.
