Kartik Aaryan, Karan Johar join hands for Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri after Dostana 2 fallout, release date...

After their much publicised fallout over Dostana 2, Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar have finally joined hands together for an upcoming romantic comedy titled Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. The filmmaker and actor took to their Instagram to announce the film on Wednesday on December 25 coinciding with Christmas.

Sharing the fun announcement video, Karan wrote, "Wrapped in romance, here comes the best Christmas gift ever from us to you. Starring Kartik Aaryan - Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri is coming to cinemas in 2026. Directed by Sameer Vidwans." Kartik wrote, "Tumhara RAY aa raha hai RUMI, Mummy ki khaayi hui kasam, yeh Mumma’s boy poori karke he rehta hai! Super excited to return to my fav genre Rom-com #TuMeriMainTeraMainTeraTuMeri. The biggest love story coming to cinemas in 2026."

Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri will be directed by Sameer Vidwans, who previously collaborated with Kartik on the romantic drama Satyaprem Ki Katha in 2023. Satyaprem Ki Katha featured Kiara Advani as the leading lady. The heroine of Karan and Kartik's upcoming film hasn't been announced yet.

Talking about their Dostana 2 fallout, it was in 2019 when Karan Johar had announced the sequel to the 2008 romantic comedy with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya as the main cast. However, Kartik was dropped from the film in 2021 after the shoot was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

After Kartik was dropped from Dostana 2, it was reported that the actor had issues with the film's script in the second half and wanted certain changes in the same. As per the rumours, the producer Karan Johar refused to make those changes and questioned Kartik's professionalism claiming that the actor had no problems with the script when he signed the film.

In April 2021, Dharma Productions had put out an official announcement that read, "Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence - we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon". It was reported in December 2021 that the sequel has been shelved.
