How Ulajh got Gladiator-fame stunt director Nick Powell to choreograph action sequences in Janhvi Kapoor-starrer

The trailer of Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Ulajh has grabbed the eyeballs and generated buzz among the audiences for the right reasons. The espionage thriller also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, Adil Hussain, and Meiyang Chang in pivotal roles. In the trailer, we see Janhvi perform some enthralling action sequences, which have been choreographed intelligently by the international stunt director Nick Powell.

Nick Powell is known for highly acclaimed Hollywood movies such as The Bourne Identity, Gladiator, The Last Samurai and others. Sharing his experience of directing Janhvi in the action sequences in Ulajh, the veteran stunt director said, "Janhvi is so feminine and making her do an action sequence and trying to make her look as someone who is punching people, hurting them, of course because she is afraid and does not intend to hurt them deliberately, was difficult."

In Ulajh, Janhvi plays an IFS officer Suhana Bhatia. Sharing details about her action training for the film, the actress stated, "People often misunderstand the role of IFS officers, they think it’s similar to other positions where hard combat training is required. IFS officer training is more focused on diplomacy, maintaining international relations, and strategic thinking using words. Through Ulajh, I gained insight into the skill sets required to be an IFS officer. For my character Suhana in Ulajh, we kept this authenticity intact. While I didn't undergo combat training, Nick Powell ensured that the essential action training went more in the zone and authentic for an IFS."

Directed by the National Award-winning filmmaker Sudhanshu Saria and produced by Junglee Pictures, Ulajh is set to release in cinemas on August 2, 2024. It will clash at the box office with Neeraj Pandey's romantic drama Auron Mein Kahan Dun Tha starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Jimmy Shergill in the lead roles.
