Did Shah Rukh Khan reject Dinesh Vijan's Chamunda alongside Alia Bhatt? Here's what we know

Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly set to venture into Maddock Films' horror-comedy franchise. Following multiple meetings with producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik, the production company has allegedly offered him the lead role in Chamunda, directed by Kaushik. Although SRK was previously considered for a starring role alongside Alia Bhatt in the film, the project ultimately didn't come to fruition.

Shah Rukh discussed the possibility of collaborations with the producer-director duo Dinesh and Amar but demanded a new world, instead of an already established universe. “With Amar Kaushik at the helm, Maddock was bullish on casting Shah Rukh Khan for Chamunda with Alia Bhatt. But things didn't pan out as expected," a source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama. It is being reported that Chamunda, was one of the many films offered to the superstar. 

Further, SRK resisted entering the universe, as the source added,  “Shah Rukh Khan didn't want to enter an already established universe and rather start a new world with Maddock and Amar Kaushik. He has asked the duo to come to him with something fresh and explore a genre never done before. The two are now exploring new names for Chamunda and hoping to team up with Shah Rukh Khan in a couple of years on something fresh."

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt had earlier collaborated in Dear Zindagi, directed by Gauri Shinde. Since Chamunda is reportedly out of the charts, the duo’s second collaboration still can be expected as Dinesh and Amar are reportedly keen on working with two powerhouses. 

Besides this, Shah Rukh is gearing up for Siddharth Anand’s King alongside Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. On the other hand, Alia is currently shooting for her upcoming film, Love & War and Alpha.
