Boney Kapoor says Allu Arjun was 'dragged, blamed' for fan's death at Pushpa 2 stampede case: 'It was only because..'

Producer Boney Kapoor has reacted to the Pushpa 2 stampede controversy and said that Allu Arjun was 'unnecessarily dragged and blamed' for the death of the woman. While appearing in a roundtable conversation of Galatta India, Boney shared his own experience of witnessing the craze of south superstars. Boney has produced Ajith Kumar's Valimai, and he shared the huge turnout of fans during the premiere screening. 

He said, "When I first saw, Ajith’s film releasing at 1 in the morning. I was shocked to see 20-25k people outside the theatre. After I came out of the show around 3.30-4 am, there were still that many people outside. I am told the same thing happens with films of Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, or present-day stars like Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and Mahesh Babu."

Speaking in defence of Allu Arjun, the No Entry producer said, “Ticket rates are inflated on the first two days or at least the first day for extra shows. That is why this situation has arisen where unnecessarily Allu Arjun was dragged and blamed for the death of a fan. It was only because of the crowd that had gathered to see the film."

For the unversed, Allu Arjun’s bail plea hearing in the Pushpa 2: The Rule stampede case has been postponed. A local court in Hyderabad will now hear the case on January 3, 2024.

A 35-year-old woman was killed in the stampede, and her eight-year-old son was seriously injured on December 4 at Sandhya Talkies. Following the incident, Arjun was briefly arrested by Hyderabad police, and a major controversy ensued. Terming the death of the 35-year-old woman and the hospitalisation of her son as "a very painful episode", the Janasena founder said the deceased woman and her family wanted to have a nice evening, return home, and share the experience, but it ended tragically.
