Talks of nepotism aside, the film industry has been family-built for decades now. Ever since Devika Rani joined her husband in running a studio in the 1930s, families have run the show in Bollywood. The Kapoors, Chopras, and Johars have been some of the most successful families in the history of the industry. And yet, none of them are the richest when it comes to sheer net worth. That tag is held by one family that has no stars, no superstars, but Rs 10000 crore net worth.

The family of Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, who run T-Series, is said to be the richest in all of Bollywood. According to the Hurun India Rich List 2022, the family has a net worth of $1.2 billion (just over Rs 10,000 crore), making it wealthier than all other film families in Bollywood. The bulk of this earning comes from their mega successful company T-Series, which handles film production and music. It also owns the second-most subscribed YouTube channel in the world. The family has been listed in the top 200 richest Indians for a few years now. Some of the other prominent members of the family include actress-director Divya Khossla, actress Khushalii Kumar, singer Tulsi Kumar, and singer Tanya Singh.

How Bhushan Kumar and family beat Kapoor family and Bachchans

The Kapoor family is considered the most successful film family in Bollywood. But since the decline of RK Studios as a force in film production, their fortunes have depended on what actors earn. That is why, their collective net worth today is just over Rs 2000 crore, courtesy the successful careers of Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. The Bachchans, too, are far behind, because they don’t dabble in film production anymore. Their combined net worth is estimated to be around Rs 4500 crore. The Chopra family, which operates Yash Raj Films, is the closest ‘rival’ for Bhushan and co, with a reported net worth of over Rs 8000 crore.
