Headlined by Varun Dhawan in his most massiest avatar, Baby John was released in the theatres on December 25 on Christmas. The mass commercial actioner features Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi as the leading ladies and Jackie Shroff as the main antagonist. Salman Khan is also seen making a cameo in the post climax scene.

An adaptation of Atlee's 2016 Tamil hit Theri, Baby John is turning out to be one of the biggest Bollywood flops of the year. The film had earned Rs 19.65 crore net in India in its first three days. As per the early estimates from the box office tracking portal Sacnilk, Baby John collected Rs 3.57 crore on Saturday, taking its four-day collection to Rs 23.22 crore. 

The film has received negative to mixed reviews from the audiences and critics. While a few have hailed Varun's performance, fast paced storytelling and the solid action set pieces, majority of the viewers have criticised the film for its predictability and called it a scene-by-scene remake of Theri.

Baby John is facing stiff competition from Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule and the Hollywooda animated musical Mufasa: The Lion King. As per the early estimates, Pushpa 2 and Mufasa had earned Rs 11 crore and Rs 9 crore, respectively, on Saturday. The former had released on December 5, the latter hit theatres on December 20. 

Coming back to Baby John, the Varun Dhawan-starrer also features Rajpal Yadav, Zara Zyanna, Sheeba Chaddha, Omkar Das Manikpuri, and Jaffer Sadiq in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Kalees and backed by Atlee and Priya Atlee, Murad Khetani, and Jyoti Deshpande under their banners A For Apple Studios, Cine1 Studios, and Jio Studios.
