Baby John advance booking: Varun Dhawan film sells 50000 tickets, faces stiff competition from Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2

Headlined by Varun Dhawan, the mass actioner Baby John releases in cinemas on December 25 coinciding with Christmas. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff in the leading roles. The advance booking for Baby John began on Sunday, three days ahead of its release.

As of now, the film has sold close to 50,000 tickets and earned Rs 2 crore, as per the box office tracking portal Sacnilk. The film's promotional assets, including the track Nain Matakka and Beast Mode, have been liked by the audiences. The reviews of the film will be a major deciding factor on how the film performs at the box office.

The Varun Dhawan-starrer will face tough competition from Pushpa 2: The Rule, which is going strong at the Hindi box office. Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, the pan-India sequel has already become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever with its domestic net collections of over Rs 700 crore in just the Hindi language.

Baby John has been directed by Kalees and adapted by Atlee from his own 2016 blockbuster Tamil blockbuster Theri, which starred Thalapathy Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson in the leading roles. Made in Rs 75 crore, Theri was a massive commercial success and had earned Rs 150 crore at the global box office

Atlee, who made his Bollywood debut last year with the Rs 1000-crore blockbuster Jawan, is also producing the Varun Dhawan film along with his wife Priya Atlee under their banners A For Apple Studios. Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Jyoti Deshpande's Jio Studios are the other producers backing Baby John.
