At Skyforce trailer launch event, Akshay Kumar recalls Sarfira and other flops, says 'lot of people...'

Akshay Kumar opened up about his dull phase in 2024 and revealed that people have advised him to stop doing multiple films. The Khiladi Kumar will have the first release of 2025 with actioner Sky Force. The team of Sky Force launched the trailer on Sunday, January 5 in Mumbai, and it was followed by a press conference.  

When Akshay was asked about his expectations from 2025, after having a bad 2024, the actor said that he's looking forward to the year. Reacting to his dull phase, he said, "Aisa nahi hai ki pheli baar nahi hua hai. Pehle bhi aisa ho chuka hai (This is not the first time this has happened. This has happened before as well). The best part is to keep on working hard. That is what I tell myself or if anyone talks to me. You have to keep on working hard."

The Kesari actor said that people advised him to do fewer films. "Mere ko kai log aake bolte hai ki aap 1 film kar lo saal mein, 2 kar lo maximum. Lekin main bolta hoon ki agar main kam kar sakta hu toh kyu na karu. Maine apna poora career is basis pe banaya hai, poori lagan, poori mehnat se (Many people come to me and tell me to do 1 film a year, maximum 2. But I say that if I can work then why not. I have built my entire career on this basis, with complete dedication and hard work)."

In 2024, Akshay's Sarfira was a disaster at the box office, but it later gained love on OTT. Akshay said that his well-wishers told him not to do content-driven films like Sarfira, but he rejected their suggestion. "Kai logo ne yeh bhi kaha ki aap aisi (pointing at Sky Force) filmein chhod do karna, content-driven films. But main nahi chhodna chahta hoon (Many people also told me to stop making such (Pointing at Sky Force) films, content-driven films. But I don't want to stop)." 

Despite the box office results, Akshay is proud of Sarfira, "I want to keep working on these films also and even on masala entertainers as well. I was very proud that I made Sarfira. Though the film didn't work, I'm very proud, and I'm still saying it." This year, Akshay will be seen in Sky Force, Housefull 5, and Welcome To The Jungle. Sky Force will be released in cinemas on January 25.
