Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar narrowly escape accident on Mere Husband Ki Biwi song shoot, here's what happened

A shocking incident occurred on the sets of Mere Husband Ki Biwi at Imperial Palace, Royal Palms, in Mumbai, when the ceiling suddenly collapsed during the filming of a song. Fortunately, none of the actors, including Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Jackky Bhagnani, or the crew members were seriously injured.

According to Ashok Dubey from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the incident was caused by vibrations from the sound system, which weakened the structure of the location. "The vibrations from the sound caused the set to tremble, leading to further portions falling off," Dubey explained.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of film sets and the need for stricter safety protocols to prevent such accidents in the future. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly expressed concerns about the safety of older properties used for filming. “These old locations are often used for shoots, and as production companies, we are sure that the safety measures are checked. However, many times, the safety of the location isn’t properly verified before it’s offered for shooting," he shared.

Several crew members, including the director, were injured. “The director was hurt, DOP Manu Anand fractured his thumb and I suffered injuries to my elbow and head. Fortunately, no one was critically hurt, which was a blessing. Even our camera attendant injured his spine," Ganguly added.

Ashok Dubey from FWICE noted that such incidents are not isolated and have been happening frequently, prompting the organization to initiate a drive to address safety concerns. FWICE has written to authorities, highlighting the need for stricter safety protocols, particularly for temporary structures like Chitrakoot and Royal Palms.

Meanwhile, Mere Husband Ki Biwi also stars Rakul Preet Singh alongside Arjun and Bhumi. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film is touted to be a musical ride of relationships, chaos, and cackles.  Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh through the banner Pooja Entertainment, the movie is set to hit the screens on February 21, 2025.
