Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar tied the knot with each other in a non-religious ceremony in February 2022. On Farhan's 51st birthday on January 9, a media report claimed that the couple is expecting their first child soon. However, his stepmother and veteran actress Shabana Azmi has dismissed these rumours. Speaking to HT City, Shabana said, "There is no truth to it at all."

This is Farhan's second marriage. Adhuna Bhabani, hairstylist and founder of BBlunt, is his first wife and mother of their two daughters, Shakya and Akira. Farhan and Adhuna had tied the knot in 2000 after being in relationship for three years. In January 2016, they announced their separation and their divorce was finalised in April 2017.

Last year, Shibana had revealed that she was called "gold digger" and was trolled with love jihad comments after her marriage with Farhan. Speaking to Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, the Roy actress said, "These were the two main things that people used to say to me. What am I supposed to do with that? I'm not going to cry myself to sleep just because people are saying these things. I'm not a gold-digger. The truth of the matter is he comes from a Muslim home or a Muslim background, and I do come from a Hindu home, and we got married and we're very happy with our marriage. That's the reality of our situation. So you can say whatever you want about us. It is what it is."

Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar will be seen next in the war drama 120 Bahadur. Set against the backdrop of the 1962 India-China war, the upcoming movie is billed as a tribute to Param Vir Chakra recipient Major Shaitan Singh and the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment. It is slated to release in theatres on November 21, 2025.
