Born in 1956 to Surinder Kapoor, a film producer, and Nirmal Kapoor, Anil was the second of four children. His father, Surinder, was related to the iconic Raj Kapoor, as both were cousins, and they shared a common dream of making a name in the film world.

The Kapoor family faced financial hardships in their early years. They initially lived in Prithviraj Kapoor’s garage, and later moved into a chawl, where they spent many years. Despite the struggles, Anil remained determined to carve out a career in cinema.

Anil Kapoor's career took off when he appeared in a small role in Hamare Tumhare (1979). His first leading role came in Woh Saat Din (1983), where he starred with Padmini Kolhapure and Naseeruddin Shah. Over time, he established himself as a versatile actor, taking on significant roles in films such as Beta, Mr. India, Chameli Ki Shaadi, Karma, Tezaab, Eeshwar, Ram Lakhan, Laadla, and Nayak. Having acted in over 100 films, he is regarded as a prominent and influential figure in Bollywood.

Anil Kapoor became a household name alongside Sridevi, forming one of the most beloved onscreen pairs in Bollywood. Together, they starred in successful films like Laadla, Judaai, Lamhe, Mr. India, and Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. However, during the peak of Sridevi’s popularity, Anil Kapoor turned down two major film offers with her. Fearing that her stardom would overshadow his performance, he rejected Chandni and Chaalbaaz. As a result, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna were cast in Chandni, while Chaalbaaz featured Sunny Deol and Rajinikanth.

Today, Anil Kapoor enjoys a luxurious life, thanks to his successful career. He owns a stunning bungalow in the upscale Juhu area of Mumbai, complete with top-notch amenities and panoramic views. His impressive car collection includes brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. Besides acting, Anil has made investments in various business ventures, contributing to his wealth. From struggling in his early days, he has now accumulated a net worth of approximately Rs 134 crores.
