Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol, Rajinikanth, Vivek Agnihotri to challenge Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR in biggest clash of 2025

Headlined by two superstars - the Bollywood's heartthrob Hrithik Roshan and the South sensation Jr NTR, War 2 is the undoubtedly the biggest Indian film of 2025. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, the action thriller is the next installment in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek The Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3.

War 2 is slated to release on August 14, 2025 in the Independence Day weekend. It will clash at the box office with Vivek Agnihotri's political drama The Delhi Files, which is slated to hit theatres on August 15. Now, as per recent reports, two more big films are targeting to release during the same weekend. These are Sunny Deol's Lahore 1947 and Rajinikanth's Coolie. Coincidentally, both the movies will have Aamir Khan in a cameo. Lahore 1947 is also produced by Khan under his banner Aamir Khan Productions.

A source was quoted telling Bollywood Hungama, "Lahore: 1947 is a film that celebrates India's Independence and what better than August 15 to release the film. They are strongly considering this date and will make an official announcement very soon. It will feature Aamir Khan in an extended cameo. The Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie is the most awaited film of Tamil Cinema and the producers have locked Independence Day release for their film. Makers want to replicate the success of Jailer, which hit theatres ahead of Independence Day in 2023. Interestingly, even Coolie features Aamir Khan in an extended cameo."

Lahore 1947 is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and also stars Preity Zinta and Ali Fazal in pivotal roles. Coolie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and also features Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. The entire Indian film industry is now keenly waiting for the official announcements of the release dates of Lahore 1947 and Coolie.
