The Creta Electric has a similar silhouette to the standard Creta but with some minor design tweaks
Hyundai is set to launch Creta Electric, its latest addition to the electric vehicle (EV) market, on January 17, 2025, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. This new model aims to strengthen Hyundai's presence in India's EV sector, offering customers an eco-friendly alternative in this category of personal vehicles.
The Creta Electric has a similar silhouette to the standard Creta, but with some minor design tweaks, that inculcate the EV-specific enhancements. Notable changes include a sealed-off front grille and a centrally positioned charging port behind the Hyundai logo. The vehicle also features 17-inch aero alloy wheels to enhance efficiency and active air flaps, which are said to help cool specific bits of the car while improving aerodynamic efficiency.
This electric car model offers two battery options: a 42 kWh pack providing a range of 390 km, and a 51.4 kWh pack, capable of running up to 473 km on a single charge. Charging capabilities are robust, with 10% to 80% charge in just 58 minutes. The model can achieve a full charge in approximately 4 hours.
Performance-wise, this compact SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, catering to diverse driving preferences.
The interior draws inspiration from Hyundai's premium Ioniq 5, featuring a dashboard with a dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation. Additional amenities include an electric panoramic sunroof, a new gear selector, and a digital key for enhanced convenience. Safety is prioritized with the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), featuring six airbags and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
Available in four variants - Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence - the Creta Electric offers a palette of eight monotone and two dual-tone colour options, including three matte finishes. While official pricing will be announced at the launch, industry estimates suggest a starting price of around Rs 22 lakh. Pre-booking of the car is available at the official Hyundai website.
The model is set to compete with the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Curvv, among others. With the introduction of Creta Electric, Hyundai aims to provide a compelling blend of performance, range, and advanced features, appealing to consumers seeking a sustainable SUV option in the evolving Indian automotive landscape.
