DNA TV Show: Why are Opposition parties leaving the INDIA alliance?

INDIA alliance was formed with much fanfare after several rounds of meetings before the Lok Sabha elections. The aim was to give a tough challenge to the NDA alliance. But today, the situation has become such that all the biggest partners of this alliance are leaving the alliance one by one, targeting Congress. The India alliance formed with much fanfare before the Lok Sabha elections has now broken.

Delhi elections and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal became the reason for the breakup of India Alliance. Kejriwal decided to contest the Delhi elections alone, and then the India alliance sidelined the weak Congress in Delhi.

Now the contest is triangular and the parties of India Alliance support the Aam Aadmi Party, not Congress. Less than 4 weeks are left for the elections in Delhi, so far there have been many twists in this election. The breakup of the India alliance is the biggest twist.

Moreover, a verbal skirmish erupted between the AAP and the BJP on Thursday after Arvind Kejriwal accused the saffron party of manipulating the electoral rolls by registering "fake" voters from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in his constituency, New Delhi, ahead of Assembly polls. Hitting back, BJP chief J P Nadda accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Kejriwal of insulting the people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, claiming that the former Delhi chief minister referred to them as fake voters.

With the Delhi elections scheduled for February 5 and results on February 8, the controversy over voter lists is expected to remain a key issue in the weeks ahead.
