In a landmark move that could greatly boost India's defense manufacturing sector, Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim nation, is mulling to purchase India’s indigenously-built BrahMoS missiles in a bid to enhance its coastal and maritime defense capabilities.

According to reports, India and Indonesia are working out a BraMoS missile deal worth Rs 450 million dollars. 

During Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi’s recent visit to Indonesia, the deal was discussed in great detail. It is expected that it will be finalised when Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visits the country to attend Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26, where he wil preside as the chied guest, as per a report by WION. 

As per the report, the Indonesian Defense Ministry has sent an official letter to their Indian counterparts to work out the finer details of the Rs 450 million dollar-deal. Notably, if the deal is locked, Indonesia will become then second Asian country to acquire BrahMoS after Philippines.

The indigenous missile comes in land, sea and air variants and is capable of hitting at targets at a range of up to 290 kilometers
