Azerbaijan plane crash: Viral video shows aircraft taking nosedive, crashing near Aktau airport, WATCH

A plane carrying 105 passengers and five crew members crashed near Kazakhstan's Aktau airport on Wednesday, killing four people and leaving several injured, Al Jazeera reported, citing health officials and medical workers.

29 people, including two children, survived the crash and were hospitalised, the report claimed citing Azerbaijan's Emergency Ministry. As per Russian news agencies, the Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 was on its route from Baku to Grozny in Russia. However, it was rerouted due to fog.

Meanwhile, a viral video of the incident is doing rounds on the internet. In the clip, the plane can be observed taking a nosedive and moments later, it was seen crashing near the airport.

Preliminary reports claim that the plane requested landing at an alternative airport before the accident due to heavy fog in Grozny, according to an Al Jazeera's report.

"Unfortunately, Azerbaijan's President Aliyev was forced to leave St Petersburg (where he had a summit). Putin has already called him and expressed his condolences in connection with the crash of the Azerbaijani plane in Aktau," Al Jazeera quoted Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying.

"We deeply sympathise with those who lost their relatives and friends in this plane crash and wish a speedy recovery to all those who managed to survive," he further said.
