Indian Railways to launch two new trains in Kashmir with advanced heating features, ensuring warmth and comfort for passengers in extreme cold.
Traveling by train in Kashmir is about to become much more comfortable, with Indian Railways planning to introduce two new trains from January. These trains will be equipped with advanced features to ensure a warm and cozy experience for passengers, even in the freezing winters of Kashmir.
The first train will operate between New Delhi and Srinagar. Once launched, passengers traveling from Delhi to Srinagar will no longer need to switch trains at Jammu. Unlike the Vande Bharat trains, this new service will be a centrally-heated sleeper train, providing passengers with hot air during their journey. It will cover the distance from Delhi to Srinagar in just 13 hours while crossing the breathtaking Chenab Bridge, which stands 359 meters high. However, the train will not offer second-class sleeper options, as reported by the Economic Times.
The second train, a Vande Bharat with eight coaches, will run between Katra and Baramulla, covering 246 kilometers in just three and a half hours. This is a significant improvement over the 10-hour bus journey for the same route. Unlike the first train, the Vande Bharat will have chair car seating and will feature silicon heating pads on the water tanks to ensure passengers have access to hot water during the journey. Additionally, the train's toilets have been specially designed with ducts that circulate warm air, enhancing passenger comfort.
Another noteworthy feature in these trains is the specially designed front glass for the loco pilots. Embedded with a heating element, this innovation ensures that the glass does not freeze even when temperatures drop below zero degrees—a first for Indian Railways.
With these new trains, Indian Railways aims to provide passengers with modern amenities and a pleasant travel experience, making journeys through the chilly Kashmir valley both convenient and comfortable.
