The 76th Republic Day parade showcased historic firsts, including a woman officer saluting the President, a tri-services tableau, the debut of the Pralay missile, and more.
The 76th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi was a memorable event, featuring several unique and historic moments. The parade highlighted India's progress, culture, and military strength while celebrating many firsts.
Captain Dimple Singh Bhati Creates History
Captain Dimple Singh Bhati became the first woman officer to present a salute to President Droupadi Murmu. She achieved this incredible feat while perched on a 12-foot ladder mounted on a moving motorcycle, showcasing balance, precision, and the bravery of the Indian Army's Corps of Signals, famously called "The Dare Devils."
Tri-Services Tableau Makes Its Debut
For the first time, a tri-services tableau was part of the parade. It symbolized the spirit of unity among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The tableau depicted a battlefield scenario, featuring the indigenous Arjun battle tank, Tejas fighter aircraft, and advanced light helicopters. The theme, "Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat" (Strong and Secure India), resonated with the idea of a well-prepared and united defense force.

Pralay Missile Introduced
The parade also marked the debut of the Pralay missile, a short-range quasi-ballistic missile developed indigenously for the Army and Air Force. This missile is designed for conventional strikes and is the first ballistic missile in India's arsenal for this purpose.
SANJAY Battlefield Surveillance System
The Army showcased the SANJAY battlefield surveillance system for the first time. This advanced automated system integrates data from ground and aerial sensors, offering a comprehensive view of battlefield operations.
Indonesian Contingent Participates
For the first time, a contingent from Indonesia marched at the Republic Day parade. The 352-member group included a military band and marching contingent, making history by participating in a parade outside Indonesia.
Massive Cultural Performance
A grand cultural display featuring over 5,000 folk and tribal performers took place along the entire Kartavya Path. This was the first time the performances covered the entire stretch, ensuring an equal viewing experience for all guests. The 11-minute presentation, "Jayati Jaya Mamah Bharatam," paid tribute to India's diverse culture and marked the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
This Republic Day parade was not just a celebration but a testament to India’s unity, progress, and rich cultural heritage.
