Jitan Sahani Murder: Here's what we know about VIP chief Mukesh Sahani's father killing in Bihar's Darbhanga

Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani’s father Jitan Sahani was brutally murdered at his home in Darbhanga. His body was discovered on Tuesday morning in his ancestral house. Darbhanga SSP Jagannath Reddy confirmed the incident, and police have begun their investigation, according to reports.

Reports indicate that Jitan Sahani was killed with a sharp weapon. 

Meanwhile, VIP party leader Dev Jyoti mentioned that they received information about the murder recently and are still trying to understand the motive behind it. He also stated that Mukesh Sahani would arrive in Patna soon before heading to Darbhanga.

The murder has sparked outrage among political leaders. JDU's chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar assured that the culprit would be brought to justice and strict action would be taken. 

RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari labelled the incident as part of a 'Jungle-Raaj' under the BJP-JDU government, demanding answers and highlighting the lack of safety for both leaders' families and the common man.

Union ministers Ramnath Thakur and Giriraj Singh assured the public that a thorough investigation was underway and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

Who is Mukesh Sahani?

Mukesh Sahani leads the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) in Bihar. His party recently joined the Opposition's INDIA block ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Known as the 'Son of Mallah,' Mukesh Sahani represents a community that makes up about seven percent of Bihar's population.
