DNA TV Show: Ruckus during JPC meeting on Waqf Amendment Act, 10 opposition MPs including Owaisi suspended

In the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary committee (JPC), held to study proposed changes to 44 sections of the Waqf Act of 1955, opposition MPs shouted slogans and alleged the government of having a "biased attitude". 

Jagdambika Pal, Chairman of JPC, stated that 10 opposition MPs used unparliamentary words due to which, there were suspended for a day. 

Among the suspended parliamentarians are - Mohammad Jawaid, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kalyan Banerjee, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader A Raja, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Nasir Hussain, Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders Mohibbullah Nadvi, M. Abdullah, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Arvind Sawant, Nadimul Haque, and Congress' Imran Masood.

On January 27, i.e., Monday, the JPC will hold a clause-by-clause discussion on the proposed changes in the Waqf Act. Earlier today, the opposition MPs objected to the last-minute change in the agenda of the meeting by Chairman and BJP leader Jagambika Pal. 

They started raising slogans against the government. As per allegations, slogans were raised by those MPs who are reluctant to support the Waqf Act Amendment Bill. 

After their suspension, the MPs targeted the BJP, alleging that the agenda of the meeting was changed last minute; due to which, they didn't get a chance to prepare themselves for the discussion. 

On the other hand, Chairman Jagdambika Pal accused the opposition MPs of shouting slogans and using unparliamentary words - there is a certain set of world which cannot be uttered in the parliament. 

It is evident that the political rivarly has deepened over the proposed changes in the Waqf Act.
