Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 6 states with highest number of seats

The counting of votes across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies by the Election Commission will begin tomorrow at 8 am.

As voting for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections 2024 concluded on June 1, citizens across India eagerly await the results which is set to be announced tomorrow (June 4). The counting of votes across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies by the Election Commission will begin at 8 am. Most of the exit polls have projected the BJP-led NDA to retain power, with Narendra Modi set to become Prime Minister for a third straight term.

Ahead of the result announcement, here are six states with the most number of Lok Sabha seats.

1. Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is India's most politically crucial state. With 63 belonging to the general category and 17 reserved for the Scheduled Caste candidates, the state holds the highest number of Lok Sabha seats, 80.

 

2. Maharashtra

Maharashtra comes second in the list, sending 48 MPs to Lok Sabha. Out of 48, the state reserves 3 seats for the Scheduled Castes, and 4 seats for Scheduled Tribes.

 

3. West Bengal

West Bengal

West Bengal sends the third largest number of MPs to Lok Sabha. With 42 Lok Sabha seats, 8 are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 2 for Scheduled Tribes.

4. Bihar

Bihar

Bihar has a total of 40 Lok Sabha seats, which is the fourth-highest number of Lok Sabha seats. Out of these, 7 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes candidates.

5. Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu contributes a total of 39 seats to the Lok Sabha, including 7 reserved for Scheduled Castes candidates.

 

6. Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh sends 29 Lok Sabha seats. Out of these four are reserved for Scheduled Castes, five for Scheduled tribes.
