'No RIP': Neena Gupta slams late filmmaker Pritish Nandy, says, 'He stole my daughter...'

Filmmaker and poet Pritish Nandy passed away at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy in the film industry. While many of his friends, like Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor, shared emotional tributes, Neena Gupta's response was different and critical.

Neena Gupta posted a message that shocked many. She wrote, "No RIP… Do you know what Pritish did to me? He stole my daughter Masaba Gupta’s birth certificate and had it published. So, no RIP, you understand? I have proof of it."

Gupta’s message refers to a painful event from her past. When she was unmarried and pregnant with her daughter, Masaba, Pritish Nandy allegedly published her birth certificate, revealing that Masaba’s father was Vivian Richards, the famous West Indies cricketer. This act upset Neena deeply, and she has expressed her anger over it ever since.

At the time, Neena Gupta was dealing with the challenges of being a single mother. Nandy’s actions made things more difficult for her, and it seems that the hurt caused by this incident has stayed with her for years. This is why Neena chose not to say the usual "Rest in Peace" for Nandy.

In contrast, close friends like Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor shared fond memories of Pritish Nandy. Anupam Kher described Nandy as a mentor and a great source of support during his early years in Mumbai. He wrote, “He was one of the most fearless people I’ve ever met. I will miss him.”

Anil Kapoor also expressed his sadness, calling Nandy a “fearless editor, a brave soul, and a man of his word.”
