Golden Globes 2025: When and where to watch? Can Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light win?

The 82nd Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 5, 2025 at the Beverly Hilton in the Beverly Hills, California. The awards ceremony will be hosted by the comedian Nikki Glaser and will recognise the excellence in film and American television produced in 2024. The nominations were announced on December 9. The French musical crime comedy Emilia Perez is the most nominated film with 10 nominations and the psychological crime drama The Bear is the most nominated television series with five nominations.

The Golden Globes 2025 will air live on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET. In India, the viewers can watch the awards ceremony from 5:30 am on January 6 on Lionsgate Play. It's an exciting moment for India as the multiple award-winning film All We Imagine As Light has received two nominations.

Directed by Payal Kapadia, All We Imagine As Light has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film. It will be competing against Emilia Pérez (France), The Girl with the Needle (Denmark), I'm Still Here (Brazil), The Seed of the Sacred Fig (Germany), and Vermiglio (Italy). Kapadia herself has been nominated in the Best Director category. Her fellow nominees are Jacques Audiard for Emilia Pérez, Sean Baker for Anora, Coralie Fargeat for The Substance, Edward Berger for Conclave, and Brady Corbet for The Brutalist. Payal is the first Indian filmmaker to get nominated for the Best Director at Golden Globes.

All We Imagine As Light has won the Best Foreign Film at several film critics association awards across the United States in the past few months and hence, is highly likely to create history on Monday morning as well. It would be an added bonus if Payal Kapadia also wins the Best Director award, the chances of which are quite unlikely. 

Earlier, it has been a huge controversy in India over why Laapataa Ladies was sent as India's official entry to the Oscars instead of All We Imagine As Light. The Kiran Rao directorial failed to get shortlisted among the final fifteen films in the Best International Film category. It will be interesting to see if Payal Kapadia's film is able to grab nominations at the 97th Academy Awards when they will be announced on Friday, January 17.
