The political thriller Game Changer, headlined by Ram Charan and directed by Shankar, was released on January 10. The highly anticipated film features Ram Charan in dual roles as a father and son, with Kiara Advani, Anjali, Samuthirakani, SJ Suryah, Srikanth, Sunil, and Jayaram playing key roles. The political thriller marks Shankar's debut in Telugu cinema. Apart from Telugu, the film has also been released in the dubbed version in Hindi and Tamil languages.
In its opening weekend, Game Changer earned Rs 88.50 crore net in India, as per the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk. On its fourth day, i.e. the first Monday, the film saw a huge drop and collected only Rs 8.50 crore, taking the four-day net domestic collection to Rs 97 crore. Talking about its worldwide collections, Game Changer has earned Rs 130.70 crore gross in its first three days. With a huge budget of around Rs 450 crore, the Shankar film could possibly be the first biggest flop of 2025.

While Daaku Maharaj was released on January 12, Sankranthiki Vasthunam hit theatres on January 14. These three movies are expected to attract audiences to theatres in huge numbers in this festive week of Pongal and Sankranti.
