UPSC exams are among the toughest exams in India, and it is no small feat to crack them, with numerous aspirants taking them each year. Some people have such tough spirits that they end up cracking every exam at every stage. Today, we will discuss the inspiring success story of IAS Priya Rani, who faced several challenges and cracked the UPSC in her first attempt.

Priya Rani hails from a very small village Kurkuri in Phulwari Sharif, Bihar. Priya faced resistance to her studies as a child. Her granddad encouraged and supported her to pursue her studies. Despite the villagers' objection to educating girls in the village, his grandfather moved her to Patna in search of better educational prospects. Priya lived in a Patna rental home while completing her schooling.

Priya Rani completed her schooling in her hometown. After that, she went on to study engineering, enrolling in the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Beshra, in Ranchi, for her B.Tech. Priya is an Electrical Engineering graduate.

After graduating from engineering school, she began working for a high-paying private company in Bengaluru. However, she decided to leave her job to pursue a career in civil services.

Priya faced significant displeasure over her decision to leave the job.

Priya Rani credits her success to her disciplined study routine. She gets up at four every day to concentrate on her studies, particularly economics, using study materials like newspapers and NCERT books. She is adamant that education is the greatest asset one can have, and she always encourages youngsters to have their sights set and to strive tirelessly towards their objectives. In the 2023 UPSC Civil Services Examination, Priya Rani secured AIR rank 69 and was selected for the IAS cadre.

As of May 2024, Priya Rani is currently an Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) officer in Kasauli and Dagshai Cantonment, Himachal Pradesh.
