UPSC exams are one of the toughest exams in India and it is no small feat to crack it with numerous aspirants taking the exams each year. And, some people have tough spirits that they end up cracking every exam at every stage. Today we will talk about the inspiring success story of IAS Smita Sabharwal whose remarkable journey serves as a testament to her unwavering dedication and resilience.
Born into a Bengali family in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, Smita Sabharwal was raised by her parents -- Colonel Pranab Das and Purabi Das. When Smita cracked UPSC exam at the age of 23, she became one of the youngest female IAS officers in India. She completed her studies at St. Ann's High School in Secunderabad, Telangana. IAS officer Smita Sabharwal is called "people's officer."
Meanwhile, the country has taken notice of her unique performance in class 12. After seeing '12th fail,' which was based on the journey of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma, she shared her grade report for the 12th grade on her 'X' handle.
Sharing her marksheet, she wrote, "12thfail was an inspiration! But 12th Pass in flying colors is a sweet memory. Chanced upon my 12th result and recalled that doing well gives one the insane confidence to dream big! To all the dear kids who are prepping for UPSC of the toughest entrances in the world.. work hard and Work Smart both. Articulation/subject knowledge both are equally essential."
When Smita took the UPSC exam for the first time, she had a setback. But she was determined to pass the UPSC. She eventually received an All India Rank (AIR) 4 in the UPSC 2000 exam after a lot of effort and unwavering determination. Furthermore, Sabharwal's career is renowned for its dedication to public service and creative approach to governance.
As 'The People's Officer,' Smita Sabharwal is well-known for her active engagement in the administration and her hands-on approach to resolving community complaints. She is also noteworthy for being the first woman to be assigned to the Chief Minister's Office in Telangana as an IAS officer.
Recently, the government of Telangana has mandated the transfers of 13 Indian Administrative Service Officers.
IAS Smita Sabharwal, who was previously the member secretary of the Finance Commission, has been moved and appointed Secretary to Government Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture, according to the official notification.
