Becoming an IAS officer is a great success by cracking the UPSC exam. It is regarded as one of the most difficult exams and lakhs of aspirants compete every year for the limited seats available.
Some aspirants succeed during the first attempt, but others have to struggle long before achieving their dream. One such inspiring story has been that of Dr Neha Jain, who decided to change her successful carrier as a dentist to pursue a passion for becoming an IAS officer. Though she could not clear the UPSC exams in the first attempt, Neha never lost focus and succeeded in the later attempts.
A Delhi native, Neha pursued her education in the city and completed her Dentistry degree from a prestigious institution. Post graduation, she began her career as a Consultant Dentist, which had been going very well. But, her heart had always been with the UPSC, and she couldn't keep herself away from serving the nation through the civil services. To not let this jeopardize her current career, Neha began preparing for the UPSC while working.
Neha's Tips for Aspirants
Neha is of the strong belief that it is easy to clear the UPSC exam provided one dedicates consistent efforts, even on a meager study of hours in a day. Her advice to aspirants would be to study 4-5 hours in the weekdays and more on weekends. Her advice for managing time and preparing for UPSC at the same time working full-time:.
Neha asserts that with a positive attitude, one can definitely study for the exam while working. She claims that students must not lose their decision to crack the exam despite facing some setbacks. Neha has also faced failure in some of her exams but she did not lose her will. Instead, she corrected her strategy and was much better in the second attempt. She thinks success is all about keeping the right mindset, a proper structured strategy, revision in regular intervals, constant practice in writing answers, and most importantly, the efficient management of time.
