As the ICAI CA final results were out, the aspirants finally breathed a sigh of relief. Rishab Ostwal R from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, is the topper who bagged All India Rank (AIR) one in the CA final November 2024 exam.

He scored 508 marks out of 600, i.e., 84.67%. Interestingly, he aced the examination in his very first attempt, setting an example of hard work and passion for everyone.

Let's get to know more about Ostwal

Rishab Ostwal, belonging to Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor, bagged AIR one in the CA final November 2024 exams at the age of 22. Speaking to The Indian Express, Ostwal revealed that he wants to pursue a career in private equity or consulting.

"My love for numbers and case studies has attracted me to pursue a career in private equity or consulting. Also, the growth prospects in such sectors are tremendous,” he said.

He started preparations for Chartered Accountancy (CA) when he was in class 12. Ostwal cleared his CA exams in both groups in his first attempt. Moreover, he had also clinched an AIR 8 in the CA inter exams held in 2021.

Preparation strategy

Rishab Ostwal dedicated 12-14 hours to study everyday. He also practised questions through mock tests and past papers, which proved to be conducive to his overall preparation.

"We get five to six months of study leave. So in those five months, I used to study at night and sleep in the morning. I used to wake up at around 10 am and study for 10 hours. In the last two to three months, I started studying 12 hours a day and during the last 15 days, I devoted 14 hours a day", Ostwal told the publication.

Highlighting the significance of coaching, he continued, “Coaching provided me with a significant head start by offering a well-structured approach to learning. Unlike self-preparation, where one might struggle to identify which topics are most important or require extra focus, coaching simplifies these decisions for me. It reduced the time and effort spent on planning and strategising, allowing me to concentrate on other aspects of preparation, like memorising concepts and practicing problems".

Rishab Ostwal pursued his Bachelors in Commerce (BCom) from the Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh in 2023.
