The journey was far from easy. Awanish faced numerous failures along the way, including unsuccessful attempts at the CDS and CPF exams and failing the preliminary rounds of the State Public Service Commission exam ten times.
The road to becoming an IAS officer is rarely straightforward, filled with challenges that test an individual’s determination and grit. Awanish Sharan’s story is a shining example of how perseverance can transform even the most modest beginnings into extraordinary success.
Born in Bihar, Awanish began his education at a government school, achieving what many might consider average results. He scored just 44.7% in his Class 10 exams, placing him in the third division with 314 marks out of 700. His academic performance improved slightly over time, with 65% in his Class 12 exams and 60% in graduation. Despite these modest numbers, Awanish nurtured an unwavering dream of joining the civil services.
The journey was far from easy. Awanish faced numerous failures along the way, including unsuccessful attempts at the CDS and CPF exams and failing the preliminary rounds of the State Public Service Commission exam ten times. Yet, his resolve remained unshaken. His first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Examination saw him reach the interview stage, and by his second attempt, he secured an impressive All India Rank of 77, joining the 2009 IAS batch. Today, he serves as an IAS officer in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district, a role he embraces with humility and dedication.
Awanish’s journey is not just one of personal achievement but also a source of inspiration for many. His reflections, including a photograph comparing himself 15 years ago to his present self, have resonated deeply with audiences, showcasing his transformation against the odds. In 2022, he further captured public admiration by sharing his Class 10 marksheet, which highlighted his modest academic beginnings. His message was clear: scores are mere numbers and do not define a person’s potential for success.
As someone who has faced and overcome countless hurdles, Awanish is committed to encouraging others. He shares practical advice for UPSC aspirants, emphasizing focused preparation, avoiding distractions like social media, and staying informed through regular news reading.
Awanish Sharan’s journey underscores the power of resilience and determination, proving that success is not defined by where you start but by the strength and consistency of your efforts. His story continues to inspire countless individuals to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams relentlessly.
