UPSC exams are one of the toughest exams in India and it is no small feat to crack it with numerous aspirants taking the exams each year. And, some people have tough spirits that they end up cracking every exam at every stage. Today we will talk about the inspiring success story of Kanishak Kataria whose remarkable journey serves as a testament to his unwavering dedication and resilience. 

IAS Officer Kanishak Kataria, who hails from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, topped the UPSC Civil Service examination 2018. On his first attempt, he passed the UPSC Civil Services (CSE) exam and achieved an All India Rank (AIR) 1. 

IAS officer Kanishak Kataria signed the resignation orders of his father after the latter retired from the post of Divisional Commissioner in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Meanwhile, his father, Sanwar Mal Verma, retired on September 30 this year. Earlier, the father-son duo got promoted in the pay series. 

Today, Kanishak Kataria is a well-known figure in the administrative profession after scoring an AIR 1 in the Union Public Service Commission's (UPSC) 2019 CSE exam. It's interesting to note that he had given up a lucrative Data Science job offer that would have paid one crore a year.  Kataria studied computer science and graduated from IIT Bombay. His career took a giant leap when he got an offer to work with Samsung in South Korea. But Kataria decided to choose a different route since he was passionate about serving his country. 

He went back to Jaipur in 2017 to be ready for the UPSC. Kanishak Kataria was driven to excel in one of the most renowned examinations in the nation by his father, Sanwar Mal Verma, who was also an IAS officer in the state.  Furthermore, he didn't sign up for any coaching. He only used self-study with organised methods and timetables instead. Kataria took the test in 2019 and passed with flying colours because to her unwavering effort.
