Ex-IAS officer Dr. Tanu Jain has this to say about UPSC interview panel

From a doctor to IAS officer to an educator, the journey of Dr Tanu Jain has been both inspiring and interesting. A 2015 IAS batch officer, Tanu Jain prepared for the UPSC exam while pursuing Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Subharti Medical College.  

Dr Tanu Jain had been very dedicated to her UPSC preparations as she cleared the preliminary examination in just two months on her first attempt but could not clear the mains. Determined, she persisted in her attempts and her hard work bore fruits as she achieved an All India Rank of 648 in her third attempt in 2014. In her career as a civil servant, she served in various areas pertaining to healthcare reforms and educational initiatives.  

However, she decided to resign from the government job just after seven years of pursuing it for her other passion of teaching. She focused on preparing UPSC aspirants to steer their way as she was familiar with the difficulties of preparation. She said, "My job in civil services was fulfilling, but I wanted to help others navigate the challenges of UPSC preparation." 

She started Tathastu ICS to provide guidance and support to aspiring civil servants. In an interview to The Lallantop, she talked about the interview panel in UPSC. She said that nothing can be said about them as they can be from any background and so from where they come cannot be stated. However, UPSC must have some idea about them and how they are selected. But a candidate is only aware about the panel’s chairman as he/she is a member of UPSC.  

She further said that the panelists can be a professor, a psychologist, bureaucrat or anyone else which a candidate would not know.  

Tanu Jain has since become popular as motivational speaker due to her inspirational speeches and practical advice which have received 840,000 followers on Instagram.
