Maxwell hit a huge 122-meter six off Kane Richardson's bowling, sending the ball soaring into the second tier of Marvel Stadium in Docklands.
Glenn Maxwell, Australia's premier all-rounder, delivered a magnificent performance in the 32nd game of the Big Bash League 2024-25. The 36-year-old, known for his explosive batting abilities, demonstrated his trademark form during the encounter between the Melbourne Renegades and the Melbourne Stars. Maxwell hit a huge 122-meter six off Kane Richardson's bowling, sending the ball soaring into the second tier of Marvel Stadium in Docklands.
This amazing smash not only beat Chris Lynn's record for the longest six in Big Bash League history (121 metres), but also elicited conflicting comments from fans. The video of Maxwell's thrilling performance for the Melbourne Stars went viral. While many supporters praised him for his impressive performance at home, some Indian fans have mocked his current IPL form.

Maxwell fell short of his eighth T20 hundred when he was bowled by Richardson on the first delivery of the Stars' last over. He left the field with his bat raised to the spectators, who cheered his outstanding effort under pressure.
In the match, Renegades captain Will Sutherland won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite a rough start that saw opening batter Sam Harper go for a golden duck, Ben Duckett score 21 runs, and Beau Webster add 15 runs, Maxwell was the standout. The stylish right-handed batsman scored 90 runs off 52 balls, including four boundaries and 10 soaring sixes, for a superb strike rate of 173. Maxwell's superb performance helped his team to a competitive total of 165 runs in 20 overs.
The Stars made sure to laud Maxwell's outstanding performance, and the bowlers rose to the occasion. Pacer Mark Steketee ripped down the Renegades' batting order, dismissing Josh Brown, Marcus Harris, and Jake Fraser-McGurk. Steketee also dismissed Harry Dickson and Adam Zampa, giving him his first five-wicket haul and bringing his BBL total to 100 wickets. He was ably assisted by Joel Paris, who took three for seventeen as the Renegades were dismissed for 123 in 19.5 overs. Tim Seifert was the leading scorer, with 26 runs.
