Watch: Fan breaches security to meet Rohit Sharma during Ranji Trophy match, India captain's reaction goes viral

There was a lot of excitement at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made his eagerly awaited domestic comeback for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy match against Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). On Day 3 of the match, however, a fan slipped into the dressing room area without going through the necessary security checks in an attempt to see the cricket star, disrupting the thrilling action on the field.

A spectator slipped past security to get close to Rohit Sharma as he took his place close to mid-on during J&K's second innings. The fan and Rohit briefly interacted before the person was swiftly removed from the field by security. Rohit Sharma was composed in the face of the unexpected encounter, even putting a hand on the fan's shoulder to show appreciation for their fervor.

Although the fan's violation was the day's high point, Rohit Sharma's on-field performance was not up to par. The Mumbai captain did not contribute much with the bat, scoring only 3 and 28 in his two innings. Mumbai's batting faltered under duress despite having a potent lineup that included Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Mumbai's top order collapsed to 47/7 in the first innings until Shardul Thakur's resolute fifty restored some respectability to the score. The squad mostly relied on Shardul Thakur's spectacular century of 119 runs to set a small target of 206 in the second innings, which was equally disappointing.

Underdogs J&K achieved an impressive victory, successfully chasing down the target with five wickets in hand. Their earlier win against Mumbai at home marked their second consecutive triumph, and it had been quite a while since they last celebrated a victory in 2014. J&K is currently at the top of Group A with 29 points, while Mumbai's chances of advancing to the knockout stages are now hanging by a thread.
