CRICKET
Fans were so excited about Kohli's return to domestic cricket that more than 10,000 people flocked to the Arun Jaitley Stadium to see it.
After nearly a decade, Virat Kohli finally returned to the Ranji Trophy. The renowned cricketer decided to make himself accessible after the BCCI mandated that all players compete in domestic matches, even though he had not participated in the domestic tournament since 2012. Following consecutive series of defeats to Australia and New Zealand, which ultimately put an end to India's aspirations of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third time, this decision was made.
The ineffective play of India's hitters, particularly veteran players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, was a major contributing factor in the team's woes in both series. Due to this underwhelming performance, the BCCI decided to require elite players to play domestic cricket in order to assist them in improving their form and prepare for playing internationally.
Fans were so excited about Kohli's return to domestic cricket that more than 10,000 people flocked to the Arun Jaitley Stadium to see it. One fan even broke through security to greet the Indian cricket star before being hauled away by security guards as the excitement was so high. In a display of good sportsmanship, Kohli requested that the security staff handle the matter tactfully, making sure the excited fan was treated with consideration.
Virat Kohli's food menu
It is customary to have a special cuisine for big occasions, but Virat Kohli opted to dine at the stadium canteen. The Delhi dasher chose paneer chili for lunch on Day 1 even though he could have had his favorite chili chicken. This decision demonstrates Kohli's commitment to his vegan lifestyle, which he adopted in 2018 to maintain his health and fitness in the face of the demanding demands of both local and international cricket.
As reported by India Today, a Delhi and Districts Association (DDCA) official mentioned that Kohli turned down the traditional chole poori before the match, instead opting for kadhi chawal with his teammates and the backroom staff. Sanjay Jha, the chef who has observed Kohli's journey as both a cricketer and a person since his early days, commended his humble nature.
“Earlier, chili chicken used to be his favorite. Not only did he use to eat it, but he also recommended it to his teammates. Now he has chole bhature or kadhi chawal. Once I asked him if we should order something from outside, but he refused, saying that he wanted to have food from our canteen itself,” Sanjay Jha told Sports Today in an interview.
