The prestigious Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25 has commenced, showcasing the talents of some of the finest players in the Indian domestic cricket circuit. As the players vie for a spot in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad, there is a sense of urgency among those who were not selected in the IPL 2025 mega auction to prove their worth. Among these players, Anmolpreet Singh, a formidable Punjab batter and former Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad star made history with his exceptional performance against Arunachal Pradesh.

Anmolpreet Singh, positioned at no.3, displayed remarkable skill and determination as he dominated the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers with finesse. His innings of 115 runs, embellished with 12 fours and 9 sixes, was a testament to his prowess. Notably, he achieved the milestone of a century in a mere 35 balls, setting a new record for the fastest century in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This remarkable feat also marks the fastest century by an Indian in List A cricket history, surpassing the previous record held by Yusuf Pathan, who achieved a century in 40 balls for Baroda against Maharashtra in the 2009/10 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Anmolpreet Singh achieved the third-fastest century in the history of List A cricket, following in the footsteps of Jake Fraser-McGurk and AB de Villiers. The list of players with the fastest List A centuries in history includes Jake Fraser-McGurk, who achieved this feat in just 29 balls for South Australia against Tasmania in 2023.

During their first group game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh, Punjab won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ashwani Kumar and Mayank Markande each took 3 wickets, leading to AP being dismissed for 164 runs. Anmolpreet's remarkable century then propelled Punjab to chase down the target in a mere 12.5 overs.
