Ravi Shastri takes trip down memory lane, flaunts his iconic 1985 Audi 100 at supercar event

Renowned former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri proudly displayed his iconic Audi 100 at a prestigious supercar gathering in Mumbai. A true car enthusiast, Shastri took part in the Raymond Auto Fest, hosted by Gautam Singhania. At the event, he not only drove his cherished vintage car but also signed the bonnet, adding a personal touch to the occasion.

It's interesting to note that Ravi Shastri got his Audi 100 in Australia after winning the Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket, a notable tournament held in February 1985.

On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Shastri shared his gratitude and joy, thanking Singhania for his dedication to preserving India's classic automobiles.

"My baby after 25 years! Thrilled to drive it at the Raymond Auto Fest, thanks to Gautam Singhania's incredible initiative to restore #India's vintage gems. Unbelievable how it still shines like it did 40 years ago when India won it,"  wrote Ravi Shastri.

The 1985 Cricket World Championship was a watershed moment for India, following their historic victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Sunil Gavaskar led India to victory over Pakistan in the final held in Melbourne.

Ravi Shastri found this event especially noteworthy because of his superb performance in the final, a dramatic encounter between India and Pakistan at the MCG. Shastri played an important part in India's win, helping to secure the championship. His outstanding all-round performance earned him the prestigious Man of the Series accolade, as he scored 185 runs and took 8 wickets during the competition.

Shastri led the team to victory in the final, hitting 63 runs off 148 balls and taking a wicket after 10 overs.

Shastri's highlight of the series came following the final, when he was named Man of the Series. The incentive for this achievement was a brand new Audi 100, which was a hot commodity at the time.
