MI vs SRH, IPL 2025: Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians face Pat Cummins' Sunrisers Hyderavbad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday evening.
MI vs SRH, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025: Mumbai Indians are aiming to extend their winning streak as they face off against the struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Thursday. Both teams have had a disappointing season so far, with Mumbai only managing to win 2 out of their 6 matches, while Hyderabad has the same record, trailing behind Mumbai due to net run rate.
Despite their poor form, both teams are entering the match on a high note, with Mumbai recently ending Delhi Capitals' winning streak and Hyderabad making a strong comeback by chasing down Punjab Kings' massive total of 245, thanks to Abhishek Sharma's impressive century.
With the Wankhede Stadium typically favoring batsmen, fans can expect a high-scoring game tonight, as both teams have powerful hitters in their lineup. While all eyes will be on the explosive SRH batting order, Indian cricket enthusiasts will be eager to see Jasprit Bumrah return to form after his injury, especially with the upcoming series against England on the horizon.
Mumbai Indians reviewed for a no ball but it was deemed legal. Hardik hit a shot straight to Ishan Kishan for an easy catch. Naman Dhir came in next but was dismissed by Malinga after playing two dot balls. Despite taking a review, Dhir accepted the decision and left the field. Tilak ended the game with a reverse swept four, securing a four-wicket victory for the home team.
SRH 162/5 (20)
MI 166/6 (18.1)
Cummins bowls a short and slow delivery in his final over, hoping to take another wicket for his team. Tilak almost hits it to Harshal at deep fine leg, but it falls short. However, Cummins successfully tricks the batsman with a slower ball off length, leading to a catch by Zeeshan at mid-off. This wicket could be a turning point for SRH in the game.
Eshan Malinga bowls a wide delivery, which SKY jumps out of his crease to hit over point for a boundary, adding to Mumbai Indians' growing total. Malinga's next delivery is also a wide, making the required run rate for Mumbai Indians even easier to achieve. The over ends with a low full toss, which Jacks flicks away for another four runs.
Harshal delivers a slower ball to Rickelton who hits it for a four, then follows up with a bouncer which Rickelton hits for another four. However, Harshal eventually takes Rickelton's wicket with a slower delivery causing Rickelton to get a leading edge caught by Head at backward point.

Rohit scores a single with a shot on the middle-stump line, but fails to pick the gap on the next delivery. Rickelton gets one run with a mistimed shot to fine leg. Rohit is beaten by a low fourth delivery and is dismissed by a low full toss straight to covers.
Rohit Sharma hits two sixes and a single in an over to score a total of 17 runs for Mumbai Indians. The first six comes from an outside edge that lands on the boundary rope, followed by a four through covers and a huge six over square leg.
Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton open the innings, with Mohammed Shami bowling the first over. Rickelton drives a wide ball for one run, while Rohit is beaten on the next delivery. He manages to get a leg bye on the fourth ball, and Rickelton gets two runs on the fifth ball. The last delivery results in an edge off Rickelton's bat, fielded by the third man.
Aniket hits a double off a yorker but is called for a short run. Aniket then hits two sixes and a couple of doubles, helped by mistakes in fielding by Jacks and Rickelton. The over ends with Cummins hitting a six off a full toss.
Boult bowls from around the wicket, Klaasen misses a scoop shot and Boult appeals for LBW but the umpire and Hardik don't agree. Klaasen only manages to get a single off a low full toss. Boult bowls a full delivery, Nitish attempts a helicopter shot but doesn't hit it well and Tilak takes an easy catch at long-on.
Bumrah begins with a slower ball, then Nitish misses a reverse scoop attempt and only gets a single. Klaasen hits to deep mid-wicket and Suryakumar makes a diving stop. Nitish only gets a single again. Bumrah throws a low full toss that Nitish can't capitalize on and gets another single.
Bumrah bowled some varying deliveries to Head and Abhishek. Head missed a slower ball and got an inside edge on another delivery. Abhishek drove a yorker for a single. Head couldn't connect a swing and a low full toss, while the final delivery was cut off by extra covers for a single.
Abhishek hits two runs by driving the ball past mid-on and then hitting it to fine leg. Head misses a pull shot and almost gets caught out trying to hit the ball over covers. Finally, Head hits a four by drilling the ball straight past mid-off.
Abhishek was lucky as he got dropped by Will Jacks at first slip on the first ball. Travis Head also got a lucky break as Karn Sharma couldn't hold on to the catch at midwicket. Chahar was left disappointed as two chances were missed in the over.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Aniket Verma, Pat Cummins(c), Harshal Patel, Zeeshan Ansari, Mohammed Shami, Eshan Malinga

Hardik Pandya: We are going to bowl first. I think it is a lot to do with the dew, last night there was dew and always at the Wankhede it is better to bat second. Same side. Everyone knew we had to give it all and that made us close. That's (changing the batting order) depending on the situation we will do that, we back all the batters in our team. He (Bumrah) is fine. We don't need to worry about Jasprit Bumrah, if he's not fit he wouldn't have been here.
Pat Cummins: That's fine. It looks a pretty good wicket. Same side. I think Abhi is still looking at the highlights (*laughs*). But we had a nice break, couple of practice sessions and here we are, five days go like that. I don't think so (reverse swing playing a big part), certain venues.. Hyderabad because it is dry and it will be even tough (to get reverse) as we go along in the tournament as the dew comes in.
