India vs England 2nd T20I Highlights: India leads the five-match series with a score of 1-0, following their victory in the first T20I by 7 wickets.
Injuries to Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh have unfortunately kept both players out of the team. Nitish will miss the rest of the T20I series against England, while Rinku will be unavailable for the second and third matches. To fill their spots, Shivam Dube and Ramandeep Singh have been brought into the squad.
Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricket team is preparing to take on England in the second T20I of the five-match series this Saturday. The eagerly awaited match will take place at the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India currently leads the series 1-0, having achieved a convincing 7-wicket win in the first T20I.
In the series opener, India showcased their dominance, with the bowlers limiting England to just 132 runs, while the batsmen chased down the target in a swift 12.5 overs. Alongside the strong performance from the Indian bowlers, opener Abhishek Sharma shone brightly with an impressive innings of 79 runs off 34 balls.
Follow highlights of IND vs ENG T20I from Chennai below:
Bishnoi plays a single, while Tilak is currently on strike with 18 runs required off 15 balls. Tilak then returns the strike to Bishnoi. A fantastic shot! Bishnoi elegantly guides the ball towards midwicket, securing a boundary.
At the top edge, Tilak scores a magnificent SIX, bringing his total to fifty runs in just 39 balls. His next shot is nothing short of spectacular - a powerful upper cut over point for another maximum. The precision and strength in his stroke are truly impressive. Arshdeep then changes tactics, resulting in an inside edge that races to the deep third region for four runs. Continuing his impressive display, he lofts the ball for two more runs on the off side.
England's aggressive use of short balls and high pace tactics has proven to be highly effective. Sundar seizes the opportunity for a free hit and expertly sends the ball soaring over square leg for a six. He follows up with a powerful four, hitting a back-of-the-length ball over mid-off.
Tilak shuffles, creates space, and cuts the ball just over point for a boundary! He then smashes a six with a fantastic slog sweep over square leg. His timing is impeccable, making use of the ball's pace. And another six! This time, Tilak gets a thick top edge on the ball and sends it flying over the keeper.
Abhishek is given out LBW. It was another inswinger, and Abhishek tried to play it towards square leg but got beaten. He decided to review the decision, but unfortunately, three reds appeared on the screen, so Abhishek had to walk back to the pavilion.
Carse hits two back-to-back sixes: first over long on and then over square leg. He follows it up with a quick double. Carse is already at 30 runs off just 16 balls. Overton is out, bowled clean. Another googly, another English batter caught off guard.
Abhishek Sharma is now in the attack. Jamie Smith confidently steps back and executes a powerful pull shot over long on for a magnificent six! He follows it up with a well-placed four through the point region. However, his innings comes to an abrupt end as he is caught at long off off the third ball.
LBW appeal against Buttler, Varun successfully convinces Suryakumar to take a review. The decision is umpire's call, so India does not lose a review. OUT! Varun bowls out Brook with another well-executed googly that leaves Brook clueless and results in his dismissal.
OUT! Washington Sundar takes a wicket with his first ball in Chennai, sending Duckett back to the pavilion. Duckett attempted a reverse sweep but only managed to hit a top edge, resulting in a catch inside the circle at point.
Arshdeep is back. He delivers a short ball, and Buttler responds by smashing it towards midwicket for a boundary! The next delivery is hit towards mid on, narrowly avoiding the fielder, allowing Buttler to pick up two runs. Buttler attempts a reverse ramp shot but misses the mark. The bowler then sends a full ball outside off, and Buttler seizes the opportunity to launch the ball over long on for a massive six! The following delivery is back of length, but Buttler cleverly creates space and drives the ball towards cover for another boundary.

Suryakumar Yadav: We'll look to bowl first. Looks a good track, hoping the wicket to be better in the evening. We want to stick to the basics. Really looking forward to the game. (Fielding) That's one thing which brings everyone together. Nitish is ruled out, Rinku will miss one or two games. Washi and Jurel come in.
Jos Buttler: We would have bowled first as well. Same gameplans, look to do better. Hopefully it'll be a good pitch and match. Bethell is unwell, Jamie Smith comes in. Atkinson misses out, Carse comes in.

The upcoming second T20I will be held on a newly laid black-soil pitch at the Chidambaram Stadium. Despite recent night match statistics showing a relatively even split between teams winning after batting first or second, the venue is known for producing high-scoring encounters. During the 2024 IPL season, there were three instances where teams posted scores exceeding 200 in the first innings, with one match witnessing both teams surpassing the 220-run mark.
Mohammed Shami, who didn't play in Kolkata, was seen practicing his bowling skills. He started off with a shortened run-up and a knee brace, under the watchful eye of the bowling coach. Later on, he picked up the pace and bowled at full speed. It seems like he may have been dealing with a knee issue that he was either recovering from or managing.
Despite some worries about his fitness when he was left out of the Kolkata match, Mohammed Shami is actually in good shape to play.
The BCCI announced that Nitish Reddy suffered a side strain injury during yesterday's practice session in Chennai. As a result, he will not be able to participate in the current 5-match T20I series. He will be heading to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further treatment.
"Rinku Singh sustained a low back spasm while fielding in the 1st T20I against England on 22nd January. He is progressing well and the BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely. He is ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd games of the ongoing 5-match T20I series," the board further said.
Hello and welcome to our live blog for the 2nd T20I between India and England. India currently leads the series after a convincing seven-wicket victory over the visitors in the first match at Eden. Jos Buttler's team will aim to level the series and boost their confidence.
