Jamsetji Tata, the visionary founder of the Tata Group, has been recognised as the most charitable individual of the past century. According to the EdelGive Foundation and Hurun Report 2021, he donated an astonishing Rs 8,29,734 crore, surpassing the likes of Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata, Azim Premji and Shiv Nadar. Bill Gates secured the second spot on this list.
Jamsetji Tata had a profound commitment to supporting education and healthcare, beginning his philanthropic efforts in 1892. Although he passed away in 1904, his legacy of generosity continues under the stewardship of Ratan Tata, who now oversees the Tata Group's charitable initiatives.
