Many Indian businessmen gradually handover their business empire to their children. The new generation further expands the family business under the guidance of their experienced parents. One such person is Laksh Vaaman Sehgal, son of the richest Indian in Australia, Vivek Chaand Sehgal.
His father is the chairman of the USD 23 billion (revenue) Motherson Group which runs Samvardhana Motherson International, an Indian multinational manufacturer of automotive components, based in Noida. The group also runs Motherson Sumi Wiring India. Laksh's father and grandmother founded the group in 1975 as a silver trading business.
Today, Laksh is a director on the boards of both Samvardhana Motherson International and Motherson Sumi Wiring India. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School (USA) and a degree from Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. According to Forbes, his father has a real-time net worth of USD 6.3 billion. He draws the biggest chunk of his wealth from auto parts flagship Samvardhana Motherson International, a Rs 106000 crore market cap company.

After completing his MBA in Finance from the US, Laksh returned to the family business in 2009. Before that, in 2003, he had worked at Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd's (MSSL) partner firm Woco Group -- which makes rubber components -- at Bad Soden in Germany. Then in 2004, he worked in Thailand to learn quality training on the shop floor. He was appointed CEO of the subsidiary Samvardhana Motherson Reflectec (SMR) in 2009 and left in 2014.
